Texas Solar Energy Credit
The Texas solar energy credit is a dollar for
dollar reduction of your property tax, up to 10% of the cost of the
system and a max of $2000. The credit can be taken for the year the
equipment was placed in service.
The solar water heating tax credit has the same
dollar limits. In addition the system must provide at least 50% of the
hot water for the residence and cannot be used for swimming pools or
hot tubs. Claims can only be made for the solar water heater, not for
any other heating systems in the house. The Solar Rating and
Certification Corporation must certify the system.
Texas wind energy credits currently are not
available for individuals. For businesses manufacturing wind systems or
installing them for their own use there are credits available.
