History
…
Originally
started as a one-person department in an Austin
closet-office of a professional engineering
company in 2001, Green Zone Home provided energy
code consultation and ENERGY
STAR® ratings for
builders. Today, Green Zone Home has grown
to become its own entity, with offices in Austin
and San Antonio, and a staff of a dozen personnel.
In addition to proudly serving the residents
of the Austin and San Antonio areas, Green Zone
Home also has affiliates who can offer some
of our services in the Dallas-Fort Worth and
Houston regions, as well. Also, since its inception
seven years ago, Green Zone Home has now expanded
its services to include a wide array of green
consultation services, programs, and plans that
not only benefit builders,
but also individuals
and homeowners, and real
estate professionals, as well.
Our
staff …
The
best in the business. ALL of our staff hold
Residential
Energy Service Network (RESNET) Home Energy
Rater, Quality Assurance, or Field Inspector
certifications. We also have staff certified
in International
Code Council (ICC) energy codes, as well
as through the National
Comfort Institute (NCI), and our organization
holds accreditation as a Home Energy Rating
System Ratings (HERS) Provider through RESNET
and the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s)
ENERGY
STAR program. Green Zone Home is registered
as a contractor in Austin Energy’s Home Performance
with ENERGY
STAR Program, and is also a registered third-party
home performance testing company through the
City of Austin. With our credentials and seven
years of experience, you are guaranteed professional
results; combine this with a local staff with
a local attitude, and you have an overall positive
experience.
How
we treat our customers …
In
this ever-changing and growing field of “green”,
Green Zone Home handles every client’s needs
individually and differently from others. Not
every project or concern is of the same nature
or scope. Therefore, we look at what your needs
are, either on an individual or company level,
and develop an action plan that best suits your
situation. Different homes and buildings are
constructed differently, which mean that your
project(s) deserve(s) the individual attention
that Green Zone home provides.
Our
relationship with the community …
Community
has always been important to Green Zone Home,
just like it is to you. We live in the areas
we serve, and are your fellow citizens and neighbors.
Therefore, it is important to us and you that
we have affiliated ourselves with organizations
that serve where we live, such as the local
chapter of the EcoBroker®
Certified Realtors, the local chapter of
the United
States Green Building Council, and the Austin
and San Antonio Area Home Builder Associations.
Energy efficiency and green management is important
to our business practices, as well; we use fuel
efficient vehicles, recycle and use recycled
products, and use local businesses as vendors
and partners when available. Education of the
community is important to everyone, as well;
we regularly participate as speakers and sponsors
at workshops for individuals, businesses, real
estate professionals, and the community on a
variety of topics concerning energy efficiency,
green building, and green living – many of which
are free and open to the public. And, as community-oriented
charity is beneficial to many, we have partnered
with Austin
Habitat for Humanity to provide pro-bono
energy efficiency and green building consultation
and home performance testing on the homes they
build.
